Regional planning: Kaithi is a focused half/full-day temple journey. Vindhyachal needs a full day and is exceptionally crowded during Navratri. Sonbhadra is a long nature-and-heritage expedition; an overnight stay is often more sensible. Waterfall access changes in monsoon—follow local closures and never enter unsafe water.

Before you go

  • Temple, museum and archaeological-site schedules can change; verify them on the day.
  • Do not photograph cremations or mourners at Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats.
  • Old-city lanes require walking. Use authorised lockers before Kashi Vishwanath darshan.
  • For boats, agree on the duration, route, life jackets and total price before boarding.
  • Navratri changes traffic and crowd conditions around Vindhyachal. Start very early.
  • Sonbhadra waterfalls and forest approaches need weather checks, daylight travel and a reliable local driver.
